At Liberty Hills, we believe that every golf program should be centered around playing golf and making it fun to track progress over time. This is why our facility is excited to be a licensed Operation 36® facility. We leverage the Op 36 Development Model (see below) and technology to make it fun for our golfers to improve their skills.

Learning to play golf can be an overwhelming and frustrating experience if you don't have a clear plan. Operation 36 provides beginners with the most effective developmental programs and technology to learn to play golf. Become a skilled golfer by following a motivating roadmap to shooting (36) or better for 9 holes!

The Operation 36 Golf Development Model:  How it works

Play 9 Holes With Op 36

Learn to play golf or develop your skills even further using the Operation 36 on-course divisions. Designed to allow you to work on the skills needed to pass each division. Play 9 Holes From Division 1 (25 Yards): Instead of starting at the full tee box, all golfers begin in Division 1 and will play 9 holes starting 25 yards from each green. When they shoot (36) or better, the golfer progresses to Division 2, where they start 50 yards from each green. This challenge continues until the golfer can shoot (36) from all 10 divisions!

Learn & Develop Skills

Attend our fun and engaging classes with our supportive professional staff. Each class we will work on a new skill that will help you pass your on-course divisions and become a life-long golfer!

Train & Track Your Progress

Every participant and family gets access to the Op 36 Golf app. This will allow you to log when you play and train, stay connected with our staff, and become a part of our community.

For our juniors, it allows us to track their golf development over-time and gives parents a timely and motivating way to get their junior on the golf course. Our coaches have access to a junior development model that can help us project where a juniors handicap will be by the time they graduate high school. Parents can quickly switch between juniors in the mobile app to see their goals & log when they play and train. Each session is shared with coaches to help guide and report on their golf development each year.

5-Day Half-Day Camps: Summer Camps with a purpose!
Give your children a summer camp experience they won’t forget! We want to see each of our golfers fall in love with the game of golf and see improvement on the course! We leverage the Operation 36 Platform to help measure improvement. Each day is packed with fun activities that make becoming a better golfer a fun experience.

4-Week Junior Academy Sessions: Juniors deserve a better way to learn to play golf!
Most junior programs are incomplete. That is why the Liberty Hills Junior Academy uses the Operation 36® Development Model which centers around playing golf. The goal is to help your junior shoot (36) or better for 9 holes.

STEP ONE: Learn Skills in Fun Classes
We make learning the game feel like a game! Your junior will make friends and learn skills in fun engaging classes held 4 consecutive Wednesdays at 5 pm.

STEP TWO: Play Their First 9 Holes
Your junior with play 9 hole tournament events with the Op 36 Model. This will happen twice during their month-long session on Saturdays at 4:30.

STEP THREE: Train & Track Progress
The Op 36 Mobile App is your families guide to practicing and playing golf outside of classes.

o WE MUST HAVE EMAIL & PHONE FOR ALL SUBS.
o Two players minimum per team per week (one per grouping, will play two players from opposing team) Please arrange for a sub if three of your regular players will be absent the same night, otherwise your team will get no points for the week.

Handicaps & Match Info

This year your handicap will be based on 5 (most recent) scores. It will drop one high and one low score. Since we are all starting fresh, your handicap will be developing over the first 3 weeks of play. You won’t know your standings until after week 3.
We did our best to determine A-B-C-D matchups for the first week. After week one, it will be determined by handicap/scores. We will rotate pairings AB/CD, AC/BD, AD/BC so you get to play with all your teammates. Bear in mind, players will rotate positions based on developing handicaps.
We had one team drop out, which left us with 13 teams. Each week, one team will play with their teammates. That team will be matched up with a BLIND DRAW match post round.

How Best Ball is Played: The Basics

Two players (partners) play a match against two other players.  In a best ball format, each player on a team plays their ball from where it ends up (no "best shot" or picking up and moving the ball to another location). It can be viewed as each player playing a typical round of golf, with their own score for each hole. The team score for each hole is the lowest score by any one player (subtracting any stroke adjustments for handicap.)  For example, a team of 2 players score 5 and 5 on a hole. Let's say one of the players gets a handicap adjustment on that hole of 1 stroke.  The team score for this hole would be a 4 because the player's score was 5 less 1 stroke adjustment.  The team score for each hole is compared with one team winning each hole or "halving"  the hole if there is a tie.  The team winning the most holes wins the match.

Handicaps are applied beginning on the most difficult holes on the golf course.  That is determined on the scorecard where each hole is ranked with 1 being the most difficult and 18 being the easiest ranking.  Let's say one player has a 3 handcap and another has a 1 handicap.  The 3 handicapper would get a stroke on each of the three most difficult holes and the 1 handicapper would only get a stroke on the most difficult hole.  These strokes are subtracted from the players actual score on any given hole to determine their net score for that hole.  The lowest net score from one team is compared to the lowest net score from the other team.

Single Elimination Tournament Bracket, begins week 17

FORMAT OF PLAY: We play MATCH PLAY (with handicap) for the tournament which means you need to keep track of the match as you play. The team score for each hole is the lowest score by any one player (subtracting any stroke adjustments for handicap.)  For example, a team of 2 players score 5 and 5 on a hole. One of the players gets a handicap adjustment on that hole of 1 stroke.  The team score for this hole would be a 4 because the player's score was 5 less 1 stroke adjustment.  The team score for each hole is compared with one team winning each hole or "halving"  the hole if there is a tie.  The team winning the most holes wins the match. Unlike the regular season, you do not need to play all holes. Once the match has been determined, you can suspend play. For example, if team A is ahead by 5 with 4 holes to play, they win 5-4 and the match can be suspended at this time. The app does not support this format of play so we will use printed scorecards so you can see where handicap strokes are applied.
